What’s In My Makeup Bag

I’m the nosiest person ever, so I love reading posts about what people carry in their purse or what products they use every day. It’s also great knowing what products are tried and true for other people before you go and spend your own money on them.

Soooooo, in the spirit of nosiness and knowledge, I thought today would be a good day to show you what’s in my makeup bag!

what's in my makeup bag | Style On Target

I don’t use all of these products every day, but they’re all staples in my makeup routine. Some I’ve been using for years, and others are new discoveries! So get your beauty blenders (I use this cheap option) and brushes ready, and let’s dive in!

  • Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel – I am OBSESSED with this moisturizer. It’s been featured in my Favorite Favorites series (once or twice!), and I’m still in love. They recently came out with this version (instead of the past one in the jar), and it’s even better because of the added SPF-protection! I have combination-to-oily skin, and this stuff works for prepping your skin for makeup application!
  • Maybelline Baby Skin Primer – This is probably the only product (besides maybe mascara) that I’m not really married to. It works, and I like the price (versus other primers), but it isn’t life changing!
  • Physician’s Formula Concealer Twins – This is a fairly new discovery for me, and it is a game changer. I have the WORST dark circles (thanks genetics), and I had no idea until recently watching a makeup video that yellow makeup cancelled out dark circles! #makeupnewbie So the next time I was at Target, I picked up this duo, and I love it! You swipe on the yellow shade first, blend it, and then the concealer. It definitely helps tame my dark circles for a fresher look!
  • Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick – Oh man. The next two items are not drugstore or wallet friendly, so sorry in advance, but you get what you pay for sometimes… I’ve only had this foundation for roughly two weeks, and I’m already convinced it is the BEST foundation I’ve ever tried. You control how you build the coverage, and no matter how much you put on it, your skin still feels like skin. It lasts all day too. Definitely money well spent.
  • Nars Blush (in “Orgasm”) – Literally the WORST name for a blush, but the most flattering and pretty shade ever. I know it’s costly, but I got mine in a holiday bundle pack for a heck of a deal, and I’ve had it forever! However, I recently read that this blush (here) is a great dupe…for a mere $3!
  • Maybelline Brow Drama Crayon – So easy to use and makes a big difference for the few seconds it takes me to swipe on!
  • Covergirl Lash Exact – I’m not really picky when it comes to mascara. I have pretty decent lashes, so I just don’t want them to look clumpy (spider lashes are the WORST in my opinion). I’ve tried a bunch of different ones over the years, and this seems to be the most durable and natural looking.
  • Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner – I don’t always wear eyeliner (so much work), but when I do, it’s Dos Equis this one. Perfect easy to draw the tiny lines that I prefer, but also great for a cat eye swipe for a night out!
  • Katy Perry for Covergirl Matte Lipstick (in Cat Call) – The prettiest pink! It lasts for a decent amount of time (what a review, Katie!), but what I really like is that it does not dry your lips out like a normal matte lipstick!
  • Sonia Kashuk Lip Stick (in Red Orange) – Honestly, I’ve tried probably 50+ red lipsticks in my life, and this is by far the winner for my coloring/skin tone. Now that I’ve said this….Sonia, don’t retire this shade…ever!

And that’s it! Nothing majorly dramatic or intense over here, since I’m definitely makeup-challenged (even though I LOVE buying and trying new products).

On that note…I’d love to hear what you guys using, trying, and are loving! Let me know in the comments!

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 146 – Paint the Town Red

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 146 - Paint the Town Red | Style On Target blog

This is one of those outfits that I really wish I was wearing (hence the whole premise of this series). Red, navy, and neutrals? You know that’s my jam*.

But I specifically wish I was wearing it while traveling in Europe (you know, assuming that these d’orsay flats wouldn’t cut into my heels…#wishfulthinking?). Our October Eurotrip is coming up, but it is still roughly two months away. And instead of whining about how far away it is like a brat, I’m dreaming up potential outfits to wear and sharing them with you! You lucky ducks, you.

And no matter where you are in the world (Philadelphia, Phoenix, Peoria, Panama City, Paris, or Prague), you can’t go wrong with stripes and a pop of color. Paint the town red, indeed!

*Sidenote, are you more of a jam or jelly person? I am definitely Team Jam all the way…and no I don’t want grape, I’d prefer ANYTHING else. Thoughts?

Ten Things I’ve Loved This Past Week on The Internet:

  1. Block heels are back! I love this style of heel (see above for proof), since it is so much more stability for walking, and I’m a klutz! So yes, block heels forever, especially this cute pair from Gap that comes in 3 colors!
  2. Blogger love of the week: It should be a crime to look this pretty…so Indianapolis police, lock Sarah up! But seriously, I’ll be copying this outfit soon, because she just looks so effortless!
  3. Officially loving this windowpane/grid print fit and flare dress. Versatility for daaaaaaaays.
  4. I’m officially creeped out, Buzzfeed. Of course I had to take this “Guess Your Age” quiz about Target, and they creepily got my age right on the NOSE! But yes, I only use a basket, and I start in clothes first! Duh! ;)
  5. Dear J.Crew, let this cobalt skirt (and the khaki one) be just as good as they look online!
  6. Obsessing over every single pattern of these scarves. Like how do I choose?
  7. Another rendition of 10 pieces turned into 20 looks to take you from summer to fall! Dear more brands, do posts like this!
  8. I‘m all about the long vest trend, but I just can’t decide whether I can work it or not…but if I could, I would definitely be buying this beautiful tan trench-like one! So pretty!
  9. In addition to my obsession of watching the Olympics, I love reading about how they train and what they eat to stay in such peak form! Bon Appetit did a great round up (here) of a whole bunch of different athletes and their diet plans.
  10. These snow leopard printed flats (in black and white) are puuuuurrrr-fect for fall. Puns for life. #sorrynotsorry

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Skirt, Blue Shirt

One fish, two fish / red skirt, blue shirt.

I’m a regular Dr. Seuss over here. And with the vibrant color of this skirt and the mixing (of two very different leopard prints), I might as well be a character in one of his books.

But unlike the Lorax, I do not speak for the trees…just for lovers of budget fashion. And this chambray shirt is a WIN for them. It also comes in a long sleeve version (here). I have them both, and you should too, because they’re that good that you’ll want to wear them all season long!

One chambray, two chambray… ;)

Today’s fun highlights:

  • Friday off of work AND I get to see my parents? #ChristmasinAugust
  • I love this dress sooooo much, and pretty much have to stop myself from wearing it ALL the time. I would wear it on a boat. I would wear it with a goat…
  • This week, we got to enjoy the Indiana State Fair, and by enjoy, I mean eat our way through whole thing! ;) We had deep-fried cheese, lemon shake-ups, corn-on-the-cob dipped in a vat of butter, and the true highlight: deep-friend s’mores on a stick! Such a fun time, so if you’re an Indiana reader, definitely make time to go at least one!
  • This weekend, my dad, The Husband, and I are running in a local 5K here in Indy. I haven’t been “training” like I should of at all, so it should be a greaaaaat time. Then we’re meeting up with mom for cajun food. That activity I’ve clearly been training for (see above at the fair)! ;)

Weekend sales:

Happy weekend, friends! What are you up to?
