Favorite Favorites, November 2016

How in the world are we at the last Favorite Favorites post for 2016 (December’s post will go up in 2017…whaaaaat)!? I promise some month I won’t start this post with the same rambling sentences about “how this month went by so fast” and “how is it already the next month already,” but unfortunately some month isn’t this month.

Shall we get onto the favorites already, then?

Target Christmas plaid wrapping paper and fox ornament; Target Christmas scene

Favorite Christmas Items: The Husband and I picked out our wrapping paper this year, and it’s this combo of buffalo plaid and a winter forest scene complete with foxes (here and here…from Target, duh!). It’s pretty much the cutest ever…just like this little ceramic fox ornament that kind of looks like my dog, Cooper, so of course I had to sneak it into our Target cart and onto our tree (thanks Husband!).

Favorite Clothing Item: I’ve been living in these cashmere sweaters from Macy’s. We all know that cashmere can get expensive, but Macy’s occasionally has these guys for under $50, which is right up my alley! They’re the perfect layering piece for winter or for just wearing on their own with jeans for the weekend. I think the black cherry color is just the prettiest shade and might be the next one I set my eye on!

Target red and white stripe socks

Favorite Activity: Cozying up to our fireplace in these candy cane stripe socks. The perfect comfy, cozy way to survive those long winter nights.

Favorite Hair Tool: Revlon Hot Air Tool. This is a game changer, folks. A game changer! I don’t really even know how to describe it other that it is basically a round brush mounted onto a hair dryer. You can dry and style your hair at the same time, and it’s a breeze. It’s MADE for people like me (who lack any coordination whatsoever). You basically become your favorite hair stylist with no training…for $15! Deal. Me. In.

IT Cosmetics CC cream with travel brush

Favorite Beauty Product: It Cosmetics CC cream. OMG, you guys. I’ve talked about foundations I’ve loved in the past year multiple times, but this stuff is golden. It basically falls between the coverage of a foundation and a tinted moisturizer and has all the pros of both and no cons! I saw several bloggers recommended it, so I bought the travel size bottle (here) before committing to the full-sized bottle (also a great way to find out what color works best for your skin). I also bought this little travel brush (here – also from IT Cosmetics), and I think it works great for traveling AND applying at home!

Favorite Shoes: I saw another blogger wearing an expensive pair of boots that looked similar to these Sam Edelman slouch knee-high boots, so when I found them for under $100, it was a no-brainer to place the order! They should be coming this week, so fingers crossed that they work out for me!

Starbucks red holiday cup; red nails; Holiday Spice latte

Favorite Drink: The Holiday Spice Flat White from Starbucks is back (yes, this is last year’s red cup)! I’m letting you know now, because last year it was almost too late to try one out for yourself. My bestie, B, and I have been calling them Christmas hug drinks, because 1.) we’re adults and 2.) the best way to describe them is  a warm, cinnamon hug…you know, if that makes sense at all! It’s perfect for those of you like me that don’t want the syrup-y sweet drinks, but something other than just coffee all the time! And it’s even better with an extra shot of espresso in it (pro-tip ;))!

ps. Grab a similar black and red buffalo plaid scarf here.

Favorite Accessory: Blanket scarves. Yes, I said that after talking about Starbucks. I’m basic, you’re basic. Let’s just grab some Starbucks and wrap up in our blanket scarves. You know you want to. ;)

Favorite Nail Polish Color: This combination: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel “Bare Dare” (exact) + Essie “Hors D’oeuvres” (exact). It’s the perfect sparkle and shine while not being too over the top. Just paint one light layer of “Bare Dare”, let it dry, and then paint the Essie “Hors D’oeuvres” on top of that. Top it all off with your favorite top coat, and you’ve got some subtle sparkle!

Favorite Cute (basically something that I think is cute): Ummmm this little Cooper puppy (who is not little and not a puppy). Not that I am a biased dog mom or anything, but seriously. He’s the cutest and hasn’t made an appearance on the blog in quite some time, so enjoy his precious little mug!

Favorite Outfit: Apparently, I’m currently having a blazer-skirt-ankle-strap-pumps moment, because this month’s favorite outfit is a two-way tie between this navy striped look (with my favorite blazer ever) and this black and white animal graphic look. Which means, I’m sure there are more of them to come this month! ;)

Be sure to leave your monthly favorite favorites in the comments! I’d love to hear about them!

ps. None of this is sponsored, and all of the favorite products reviewed were purchased by me (or me and The Husband when I slip them into the grocery cart)! ;)

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 161 – Wilderness Chic

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 161 - Wilderness Chic | Style On Target blog

Wildness chic is a thing that I’m pretty sure I just made up…specifically so that I could have a title for this post. Selfish, I know.

But IF it was a real thing, this would be my translation of it. Cozy cabin layers, earthy neutral colors, and practical, sturdy shoes. Even though I’m pretty sure you couldn’t outrun a mountain lion or a bear in these…and I haven’t tried.

So maybe just wear it for cooking s’mores outside in Mother Nature while remaining within eyesight of your cabin and modern day advancements…like running water! ;)

Ten Things I’ve Loved This Past Week on The Internet:

  1. These look like the most perfect boyfriend jeans ever…and they’re under $100!
  2. Blogger love of the week: Love this classy casual NYC look from Sarah, but more than that…you have to read the tragic tale of her hat. RIP, Target hat…RIP!
  3. If you’re a horse lover or just a fan of animal graphic prints, you’re going to need this cardigan! Not quite houndstooth, more like horsetooth! ;)
  4. Someone took their drone out for some crazy aerial shots of fall foliage…and they’re absolutely stunning!
  5. This weekend sweatshirt is under $20 and the coziest thing to wear…well….all weekend long (it also comes in other phrases too)!
  6. I want this dress from Boden in every color and print imaginable.
  7. The Husband and I had the best peanut butter and jelly pancakes in Prague, so the other weekend we were looking to recreate them…this recipe came super duper close, was delicious, and is excellent for a quick at-home-brunch!
  8. This skirt is giving me super Kate-Middleton-vibes…so of course I want it.
  9. I’ve always been one to listen to music when I’m working on a project, paper, or blog post, but I’ve never thought to consider what it does to my brain and it impacts my capabilities. Pretty neat summary here on when it could help!
  10. I’ve been looking for a great pair of burgundy ankle boots, and these look like real winners!

New Favorite Coat

It seems like every year I have a new favorite coat…which usually ends up being the one that I bought for that particular year (see my camel coat here for my 2015 favorite). Sure, I still love my old standbys, but there’s nothing like a new coat to chase your winter blues away!

Or at least that’s what I tell The Husband. ;)

And yes, that same thing happened again this year with my new plaid coat from J.Crew. As soon as I saw it in stores, I knew I was hook-line-and-sinker gone and committed to making this my 2016 winter coat purchase.

And here it is…in its blog debut! The fit is perfection, the navy/white/green colors are a fun, unexpected mix, and it is heavyweight without being bulky. Plus, plaid is a classic pattern, so you know you’ll be wearing it for years to come.

So if you’re still making your Christmas list, you might want to tell Santa your coat size too! ;) Or just make this your 2016 coat!

Today’s fun highlights:

  • TGIF, folks. T-G-I-F!
  • And that’s really all I have for you all today. My week was pretty average (minus the 20 million packages from Black Friday that arrived at my house), and I don’t have any big plans for the weekend!
  • Though I did start House of Cards (thanks for the idea Mom and brother), and while I may be like 4 years behind all the cool kids who have already watched it…I’m loving it and may or may not be glued to my couch all weekend watching it!

Weekend sales:

Happy weekend, friends! What are you up to?
