One of the best parts of blogging (besides interacting with all of YOU and being able to justify my spending to The Husband) is interacting with other bloggers! It’s so nice to be able to support and encourage each other even though most of us live in complete different states and have never met in person (except, you know…when you live in the same city…heeeeeey Sarah…more cake dates please)!

One of the bloggers that I regularly girl crush over is Nicole from Writes Like a Girl . You’ve probably seen me link to her over and over again, but she really is a breath of fresh air. We regularly exchange gushing, supportive comments for each other on social media, get excited for each other’s blogging victories, and now I’m stealing her outfit combos on a regular basis! ;)

Nicole paired her look (here) with a black hat and fringe ankle boots, which would perfect for the weekend, but the combination of a gray tee, black blazer, simple-but-interesting necklace, and red skirt works equally well for the office with black heels (and sadly, no hat!). So thanks for making an early morning what-to-wear-to-work battle easy, Nicole, by letting me steal this look (and for inspiring the purchase of this skirt)!

ps. Would this maybe a monthly feature you guys would like to see? Aka watch me steal an awesome outfit from another blogger while giving them credit and putting my own spin on it? Let me know!

May 2016 Budget

Yes, there is like another full week of May left, but I am posting this blog post today, because to me that means the June budget is here…and why is that so important? Keep reading, my friends!

Check out May’s budget below to see the damage:

may 2016 budget | Style On Target

May 2016 Budget
+ J.Crew Factory White Crew Tee – $16 ($22.55 originally – sale – here)
+ Loft Black/White Palm Print Circle Skirt – $25 ($50 originally – 50% off sale – here)
+ Loft Red/White Print Circle Skirt – $25 ($50 originally – 50% off sale – here)
+ Merona Red Wedge Sandals – $20 ($25 originally – 20% sandal sale – here)
+ Wicker Clutch – $10 ($60 originally – via Poshmark – similar here)

Not Pictured:
+ Coach Red City Bag Purse – $25 ($200+ originally – via Poshmark – similar here)
+ J.Crew Factory Stripe Crew Tee – $16 ($22.55 originally – sale – here)

Total Spent: $137

Goal: $200
Amount Under/Over: +$63 = $200 – $137
Total Saved: $293 = $430 (if not on sale) – $137
Item Count: 7
Carryover to Next Month: $285 = $222 + $63

Okay, suspense over! June is my birthday month, so it is the one month that I don’t really “make” myself follow the budget. So you may see increased spending during June. And reporting the May budget early annnnddd starting the June budget a week early? All part of my evil plan…bwahaha.

And it turns out vacationing in the middle of the month definitely curbs your spending! But back to May’s budget and the few, but exciting things I purchased!

A good white tee is hard to find. That’s why you need to run, don’t walk, and buy these J.Crew Factory tees! Completely NOT see through, soft, and fairly affordable. I would much prefer if they had been $9-10, but the $16 I paid was worth it for them not being completely sheer like every other white tee I have ever tried on! They come in a ton of solid options (here) and three different stripe versions (here).

Another thing I can’t get enough of is the thick jersey circle skirts from Loft the past few years. Loft, you keep making ’em, and I’ll keep buying them. Free advice for the Loft executives (who most certainly DO NOT read this blog): make one in vertical stripes and one in black/white gingham, and you’ll sell out!

The wicker clutch was a random purchase, but I was looking for a good summer clutch, and my negotiation skills apparently worked on Poshmark. Score. Another killer Poshmark purchase was yet another Coach bag. I am apparently (subconsciously) replacing ALL my purses with vintage Coach bags, but I love finding a new one and you really can’t be the price and quality if you put in the time to scour the Internet for one that you want!

Things That Didn’t End Up Working
+ This H&M white/navy stripe sweater – boxy, baggy, and slightly see-through. Three adjectives that will get you sent straight back.
+ This white pintuck swing blouse from Old Navylooks AMAZING on Nicole here and looked AWFUL on me. A great example of why clothing companies make all different styles of tops for all different styles of people!
+ This black Loft tassel skirt – really wanted to like this one, because I love a good black skirt with interest, but it just seemed too flimsy and too thin for a $70 skirt that was only 40% off.
+ This white gauze cami dress from Old Navy – a touch see-through, so the quest continues for both white jeans and a white summer dress!

Next month’s budget should be a fun one, as Memorial Day sales are right around the corner and are actually some of my favorite sales to shop! Plus, I’m sure I’ll manage to treat myself to a birthday present (or two), so you know it will be a great month of shopping!

How did you do this month on your budget? I’m linking up with Franish’s Budgeting Bloggers, and you should too!

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 133 – Off Duty

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 133 - Off Duty | Style On Target

Oh man. Hump day…before Memorial Day weekend?! So close, yet so far away!

I’m beyond ready for the long weekend, and I actually have Friday off too (four day work week, four day weekend…I wish that was a normal thing!)! So here’s to being off duty, sleeping in, drinking iced coffee, riding bikes, eating outside, and avoiding all my chores!

And here’s a perfect outfit for all of that! See you don’t even have to waste a second of your long weekend picking out clothes…I got you! ;)

Ten Things I’ve Loved This Past Week on The Internet:

  1. I NEED this navy and wicker crossbody bag! It’s perfect for every summer activity ever. Also, this one is more affordable and equally as cute!
  2. Blogger love of the week: Old Navy just launch a new line of tees (find them here), and I loved how Jess chose to style them all up! Affordable fashion is THE BEST, and how gorgeous are her photos?! <3
  3. Did you hear that Katy Perry has a new line of lipstick with Covergirl? I was curious about them, so I grabbed the shade Cat Call the last time I was at Target, and I love it! It’s the perfect pink to rock!
  4. AirBnbs are my new favorite thing to book while travel over a hotel, and I love traveling in Europe. So when The Everygirl put this list together of 10 AirBnbs in Europe under $200, my travel bucket list got much longer! But seriously…that Paris one!
  5. The ruffles on this portofino shirt are so dainty and perfect! It would pair perfectly with the next item too!
  6. Gingham shorts with a longer-than-normal length? Yes, please!
  7. One of my co-workers knows about my undying love for s’mores, so she let me in on some big news this week…M&Ms is coming out with a Crispy S’mores M&Ms this summer!! Be right back, scouting them out at all the stores and then buying them all!
  8. I’m in love with the vibe of this casual spring-meets-summer outfit that features a long cardigan, boyfriend jeans, and sneakers (things we probably all have in our closet!). Definitely copying this for a future blog post!
  9. 6 essential style rules from Jackie Kennedy…because she was the First Lady of sensible, but still fun style!
  10. Loving this maxi dress and it comes in talls and petites…the only problem? Whether to order it in orange or olive green?!

I know, I know.

A month or so again, I declared that I was more of a navy-as-my-favorite-neutral person. And here I am sporting a head-to-toe black outfit.

But it’s Monday (sigh). And I spent all my creative energy this weekend figuring out to tame ALL the massive weeds in my yard/flower beds/random other places they shouldn’t be. So far the tally is Weeds: 2, Katie: 0, in case you’re keeping track at home.

So that double whammy calls for an all-black-everything outfit. Simple, easy, and perfectly acceptable to wear to tackle a 4-day work week before a 4-day weekend (for me at least).  And if you have not tried Loft’s circle skirts (here – they come out in various solids and patterns all the time), you must! Stretchy, but thick, and perfect for this flare skirt loving lady!

Godspeed, y’all! We can make it to the weekend!

ps. I’m getting my hair cut on Friday…does anyone have any recommendations for a low-maintenance cut/style? I’m on the struggle bus of not knowing what I want…but having tons of split ends to resolve! #helpagirlout
