Fall Capsule #1: Basic

Guys, I’m so “basic” (reference this list for more information). I found that list a few months back, and I nearly fit every single one of them (except, I’ve never watched a full episode of Friends or Gilmore Girls, shocking…I know). Specifically #4, 23, 32, 36, and 47. But most of all….#1. Oh my word, definitely #1.

You know what is also basic? This outfit. Which is a-okay with me. This whole challenge was about taking my style, developing it, and utilizing things in my closet that I would like to keep in there for a long time. I can definitely see myself wearing variations of this outfit for a long time to come.

Until Kate Middleton tells me not too…

Nothing wrong with basic sometimes! This is one of my go-to fall outfits. It’s always a classic.

  • I love a good basic outfit! Something wonderful about simplicity!

  • CUTE. I think the moral of the story is that when you combine 3-4 basic wardrobe staples, you get a totally perfect fall outfit! And now that it’s time to pick out my clothes for the day I’m just going to copy this with the versions in my capsule: plaid shirt, green quilted vest, tan ankle boots. (Because while I adore those Corso Como boots my stupid short legs don’t work with any riding boots. I’ve tried them all. Boo.)

    • YES! Fall outfit for the win! And it took me soooo many tries to find perfect boots, because most of them were weirdly too short for me (long shins? is that a thing?). Good luck if you continue to keep trying! Ankle boots are pretty great too.

  • ok, i am kind of in love with this outfit and want to replicate it immediately. i wouldn’t call it basic either, there’s so much great layering and mixes of neutral colors going on, plus that pop of red… love it.

    • DO IT! And I only really called it basic, so I could reference that article and because it wasn’t really ground breaking (not that any of my looks are, which I am more than fine with)!
