Fall Capsule #1: What to Wear to a Fall Festival

So this weekend, I headed off with The Husband to the Covered Bridge Festival in Parke County, Indiana.

Let me just say, it was super fun to hang out with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. It was super fun to eat delicious food (hello melt-in-your-mouth mini donuts and giant turkey leg). And it was super fun to spend a ton of time outside on a nice day and debut your new vest (this is what I wore).

Beyond this and these awesome vintage signs, it a little bit of a let down. I had definitely been looking forward to the festival for sometime, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting. It took forever to get there and get parked (since it was the second day of the event and everyone was there), and once we got there, it seemed like all that was being sold was 80% junk or ripoffs. :(

Don’t feel too bad for me, I still had a fun time catching up with my mother-in-law and talking to my sister-in-law about her growing baby bump. And I ended the day with an apple dumpling a la mode and some quality people watching. Priceless.

Outfit 21

  • On Target item: Merona Plaid Oversized Scarf (exact)
  • Sweatshirt: J.Crew Factory (exact)
  • Herringbone Print Vest: Raefaella (exact)
  • Purse: Target (exact – reverses to gray!)
  • Jeans: Denizen, Target (exact)
  • Boots: Corso Como, Nordstrom (Fall 2014; similar)

  • I tried on that vest but decided against it. These pictures are making me second guess that decision.

Our fall festival is this weekend. It’s a big honkin deal because we live in the middle of no where but there’s some much for little children and then there’s a lot of kitschy stuff for quintessentially country southern women. If you like “you might be southern if” signs and fair food, then the Watkinsville fall festival is for you. If not… just stay home and stay away. There’s like a 10 mile radius of bumper to bumper traffic around it. Oy.

Your outfit looks cute too, so I’d consider that a win! I’m glad you had a great time. You’re rocking that vest!

  • I wish the festival had been more fun and had more awesome things, but it’s nice that you spent time with your family! I just bought that scarf and I LOVE it! It’s so soft!
