Talking About Talbots

Oh Talbots. You’ve really, really upped your game this year.

I’m going to be 100% frank with you guys and say that I used to think of Talbots as having a strictly older clientele than this 20-something over here. In fact, one of my co-workers is past retirement age, and she always says that she’s still working to pay off her Talbots credit cared! Hah (love her for that)! So not for me, right? Wrong.

In the past three seasons, they’ve tried to incorporate some fresh and well, younger, style into their collections. For example, see the photo up there? I probably wouldn’t wear outfits number #1 or #3, but I would wear #2, #4, and #6 in a heartbeat.  And I also have to eat my words, since I said that and I now own two of their sweaters!

I was recently in the store because I wanted to try on a sweater that I was loving online (this one in case you were wondering), and I was really impressed by the fall collection. Lots of stripes, fit-and-flare dresses, tons of red/blue combos, cute and comfy weekend wear, etc. I also found this fall lookbook (here – just use the scroll bar at the bottom of your screen) that showcases EVEN MORE fall styles that should be in stores and online very soon. I’ll be stalking the website for that fair isle sweater and yellow skirt!

And in case that doesn’t make you excited enough…here’s a sneak peek at their Winter 2015 collection…and I want it all (especially the buffalo plaid and all the sweaters). Insert alllll the emoji heart eyes here.

I will admit that Talbots is normally out of my price range, but a few pieces now and then with online sales and free shipping coupons (like I found over Labor Day weekend) help keep things in the Loft-pricing range, which I can manage in my budget. So just keep that in mind!

ps. This post was not sponsored by Talbots, I’m just sharing what I love lately! Check out my picks below by clicking on the item!

pps. Yes, that is a dog sweater down there that I don’t own….YET! ;)

  • I have to say that I’ve been impressed with Talbots lately too! My mom has been a loyal customer for years, so I always snag her copy of the latest catalog whenever I’m at her house. I love the colors they choose every fall, and I like how they’ve maintained really great quality of their items over the years. I have an elbow patch blazer from them that I got for Christmas last year, and it’s one of my favorite pieces in my closet! We have a Talbots Outlet near me that I really should visit more often…

  • Like Caroline I got started with Talbots because of my mom, so I’ve been picking up staples there for years – their semi annual sales are fantastic! I especially love their button downs, because they fit my 34F bustline without gaping (also, no-iron FTW!). Work pants and sweaters are also a good bet, they’ll wash and wear for years.
