So I didn’t really have anything interesting to report today (except I love plaid sweaters), so I’m stealing this survey (and possibly some of her answers) that I found from Adina of Blue Collar Red Lipstick (love her style, by the way, if you’re looking for a new blog to read). I like that the questions in this survey go deeper than “What’s your favorite color?” but don’t make you spill your deepest, darkest secrets.
I’d love to read any or ALL of your answers, so feel free to share them in the comments or shoot me them in an email (email@example.com)!
What brings you the greatest joy?
Either hanging out with my husband, puppy, and family on a weekend (or better yet, a long holiday weekend!). Waking up early (I know, I’m crazy) before anyone else is up, feeling the calm and still morning air, and going for a brisk fall walk to get a chocolate chip scone and coffee from Hubbards & Cravens. Or when one of you all sends me a sweet little note (it seriously makes my day/week/month). Or a solo trip to Target. Or a vat of buffalo chicken dip. I’m easy to please.
What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Fake it til you make it. Because sometimes, you just have to!
What app do you most often use?
Instagram. Always Instagram. So much so that The Husband refers to it as “The Grams”. #addicted. Follow me here, if you don’t already!
What do you wish someone would invent?
Floo powder (Harry Potter fans will know what’s up). I love traveling to new places, but I haaaaaaate being stuck in long car rides and long airplane rides.
What is your fantasy itinerary?
London -> Paris -> Amsterdam -> Cinque Terre -> home to Cooper and my bed
What book had a profound effect on your life?
Ooooo. This one is so hard. I’m going to change it to movie, because this is my blog, and I can do whatever I want. The movie that has had a profound effect on my life is The Princess Bride, because it is both The Husband and I’s favorite movie. When we first started communicating/dating, we would sometimes work in adorable movie line phrases when talking/texting each other, and I really credit it to helping us connect and bond. And now we’re MARRIED, so thanks Princess Bride!
Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party?
Kate Middleton, Peyton Manning, Taylor Swift, and Tony Dungy. It would have to be catered though…I’ll just dress to impress! ;)
What makes you laugh?
Really bad pun/jokes. This one laugh that The Husband does when he thinks something is really REALLY funny. Watching this one video where my brother almost falls into water, but he doesn’t and instead makes this incredibly goofy face.
What makes you cry?
Movies/books in which animals or wonderful people characters die (I cried a few tears on the plane ride home from Europe while reading). I’m actually a really big crier, guys, so I’m surprised I can’t come up with a list that is miles long.
What irrational fear do you have?
I’m not sure I have any technical “irrational fears,” but I HATE spiders and bugs. We have this really cool system in our called “Bug Alert”. It basically goes like this: I see a bug, I proceed to yell “Bug Alert” over and over and over again until the Husband arrives with a paper towel, and then he kills the bug. I promise I’m a real catch, guys.
What is your beauty secret?
ALWAYS wash your face before going to bed. ALWAYS. And I’m slowly finding out that Suave shampoos and conditioners are better than almost anything else (and you can’t beat the price).
What do you hope your friends say behind your back?
She’s one of the funniest and most genuine person in the world, and her laugh is so contagious. Oh, and she has the prettiest hair and best wardrobe.
What advice would you give to someone with a broken heart?
“Let’s go grab some ice cream, and hug it out.”
What song instantly puts you in a good mood?
Right now? “Sorry” by Justin Bieber. Forever and always? “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift, because my friend C and I “rewrote” the lyrics for our friend B during our junior year of college. Forever and ever always? “Swept Away (Sentimental Version)” by The Avett Brothers, which is The Husband and I’s song.
How did you make your first dollar?
Counting inventory for my parents’ business (for a non-real job) and making Subway sandwiches (as a real job)…yes, I’m a former Sandwich Artist…you had no idea that I was THAT cool!
What do you wish you could stop doing?
I’m one of the most impatient people in the entire world, so if I could increase my patience level that would be great for me (and the people around me).
How do you define success?
Instead of money and power (which is definitely overrated), Maya Angelou put it perfectly: “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” How perfect is that? I need to get this framed for a wall!
What should every woman try at least once in her life?
Ride a bike (and see how far your own energy can carry you) and watch a whole football game with someone who is patient enough to explain the rules to you (if you don’t know them already).
How would you like to be remembered?
I’m copping out and stealing Amy Poehler’s (and Adina’s) answer: Often, fondly and loudly.
