Time for a little bit something different (than your regular outfit post) to start off this week AND a new month! With all the fall items popping up in stores and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in its final week, I couldn’t help get excited for fall to arrive. It’s my favorite season to style outfits for, buy new apparel items for, and experience overall!
So I thought I would round up my 10 favorite fall outfits from last year, and link to some pieces that will help you get ready for fall…now only if we could get Mother Nature and the temperatures outside to cooperate! ;)
And if you want to be taken to the original outfit post, just click on the photo and you should be taken there!
Camel Wool Coat:
Probably my favorite piece that I bought all of last year…because it basically makes every outfit look 10 times ritzier than it actually is! The outfit above is essentially a stripe tee and black jeans…not exactly anything to write home about without the coat. But with the coat? Classy perfection!
Ankle Boots and a Utility Jacket:
If you follow this blog even a little bit, you know that I pretty much live in ankle boots during the Midwest falls and winters. I just can’t help it. Mine above are super old from Target, but this pair of ankle boots (here) is fairly similar!
I also finally caved last year and purchased the J.Crew utility/field jacket (here) that everyone loves so much. It’s the perfect travel jacket (I wore it to Europe last year – see it here) thanks to all its pockets and the mossy brown/green color works with EVERYTHING.
ps. I just clicked on the link to make sure it worked…and there is now a cobalt blue color one? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Want.
Comfy Cozy Cardigan:
There is nothing better than a cardigan that is secretly a blanket, and that’s what this cardigan is all about. Grab yourself a cocoon/circle style cardigan (similar here), and we’ll somehow make it through the colder seasons!
Quilted Vest and Swingy Dress:
This outfit may remind you of Halloween (poor black and orange together…it’s like red and green and Christmas), but it also combines another two fall essentials: quilted vests and swing-y dresses!
My favorite vests are from J.Crew Factory (they’re back already! – here), but this one is a complete twin of mine from above (and currently on sale)!
As far as dresses go, Old Navy always seems to hit it out of the park with their swing dresses. I don’t love them on their own (at least for my body shape), but paired with a belt or vest or jacket, they look great!
The ideal piece for easing your way back into fall layering. This vest is on sale and almost identical to mine. I can’t wait to wear mine over dresses, with stripes, and paired with black jeans!
Speaking of black jeans, I love my mine, because I think they look a bit more polished than basic blue jeans, but I just don’t think they look quite right in the summertime.
Which is why I’m excited to wear them again come fall! This pair is from Loft last year, and I’m hoping they bring the style back again, but in the meantime, this pair is similar, under $50, and has great reviews!
Little Bit of Leopard:
I love my leopard crossbody purse. It’s the perfect way to add a dash of “fierceness” to your look (without looking like Scary Spice). This one is super similar and from a great brand (though on the pricier side)!
If you already have enough purses, but still want to inject some leopard print in your life, try a leopard print flat! I love my old pair from Target, and here are some similar ones!
ps. If you want some boyfriend jeans like mine above, these are super similar and under $40 (and bonus, aren’t too distressed)!
Fall Fedoras and Cable Knit Sweaters
I still love this outfit so much that I could potentially wear only this all fall and still be completely happy. Cable knit sweaters definitely add texture and interest to layering on outfits, and I’m loving these from Uniqlo (especially for the price and ALL the color options!).
In terms of fall hats, I don’t want to spend that much on them, since they don’t get worn all that much. Target has a great hat selection that is super affordable. I love this hat (here) and this one (here).
Chambray and Patterned Pants:
I’ve heard other bloggers refer to chambray shirts (similar here) as their security blankets, and I couldn’t agree more! It’s like blue jeans, but for the top half of you!
I love to pair mine with patterned pants (similar here) for a quirky, but still work-appropriate look!
Probably my favorite fall apparel item, because you can never have too many! I also love how they can take a boring outfit to something a bit more polished/finished. Plus, they’re great for keeping you warm on those colder fall days!
I’ve rounded up my favorites below from this year’s crop of blanket scarves!
And that’s it for my top 10 fall looks! I hope you found some inspiration for some future outfits or shopping trips! Let me know if you’d like to see posts like this prior to every season! It’s always fun for me to walk down my blog’s memory lane!
