Favorite Favorites, November 2016

How in the world are we at the last Favorite Favorites post for 2016 (December’s post will go up in 2017…whaaaaat)!? I promise some month I won’t start this post with the same rambling sentences about “how this month went by so fast” and “how is it already the next month already,” but unfortunately some month isn’t this month.

Shall we get onto the favorites already, then?

Target Christmas plaid wrapping paper and fox ornament; Target Christmas scene

Favorite Christmas Items: The Husband and I picked out our wrapping paper this year, and it’s this combo of buffalo plaid and a winter forest scene complete with foxes (here and here…from Target, duh!). It’s pretty much the cutest ever…just like this little ceramic fox ornament that kind of looks like my dog, Cooper, so of course I had to sneak it into our Target cart and onto our tree (thanks Husband!).

Favorite Clothing Item: I’ve been living in these cashmere sweaters from Macy’s. We all know that cashmere can get expensive, but Macy’s occasionally has these guys for under $50, which is right up my alley! They’re the perfect layering piece for winter or for just wearing on their own with jeans for the weekend. I think the black cherry color is just the prettiest shade and might be the next one I set my eye on!

Target red and white stripe socks

Favorite Activity: Cozying up to our fireplace in these candy cane stripe socks. The perfect comfy, cozy way to survive those long winter nights.

Favorite Hair Tool: Revlon Hot Air Tool. This is a game changer, folks. A game changer! I don’t really even know how to describe it other that it is basically a round brush mounted onto a hair dryer. You can dry and style your hair at the same time, and it’s a breeze. It’s MADE for people like me (who lack any coordination whatsoever). You basically become your favorite hair stylist with no training…for $15! Deal. Me. In.

IT Cosmetics CC cream with travel brush

Favorite Beauty Product: It Cosmetics CC cream. OMG, you guys. I’ve talked about foundations I’ve loved in the past year multiple times, but this stuff is golden. It basically falls between the coverage of a foundation and a tinted moisturizer and has all the pros of both and no cons! I saw several bloggers recommended it, so I bought the travel size bottle (here) before committing to the full-sized bottle (also a great way to find out what color works best for your skin). I also bought this little travel brush (here – also from IT Cosmetics), and I think it works great for traveling AND applying at home!

Favorite Shoes: I saw another blogger wearing an expensive pair of boots that looked similar to these Sam Edelman slouch knee-high boots, so when I found them for under $100, it was a no-brainer to place the order! They should be coming this week, so fingers crossed that they work out for me!

Starbucks red holiday cup; red nails; Holiday Spice latte

Favorite Drink: The Holiday Spice Flat White from Starbucks is back (yes, this is last year’s red cup)! I’m letting you know now, because last year it was almost too late to try one out for yourself. My bestie, B, and I have been calling them Christmas hug drinks, because 1.) we’re adults and 2.) the best way to describe them is  a warm, cinnamon hug…you know, if that makes sense at all! It’s perfect for those of you like me that don’t want the syrup-y sweet drinks, but something other than just coffee all the time! And it’s even better with an extra shot of espresso in it (pro-tip ;))!

ps. Grab a similar black and red buffalo plaid scarf here.

Favorite Accessory: Blanket scarves. Yes, I said that after talking about Starbucks. I’m basic, you’re basic. Let’s just grab some Starbucks and wrap up in our blanket scarves. You know you want to. ;)

Favorite Nail Polish Color: This combination: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel “Bare Dare” (exact) + Essie “Hors D’oeuvres” (exact). It’s the perfect sparkle and shine while not being too over the top. Just paint one light layer of “Bare Dare”, let it dry, and then paint the Essie “Hors D’oeuvres” on top of that. Top it all off with your favorite top coat, and you’ve got some subtle sparkle!

Favorite Cute (basically something that I think is cute): Ummmm this little Cooper puppy (who is not little and not a puppy). Not that I am a biased dog mom or anything, but seriously. He’s the cutest and hasn’t made an appearance on the blog in quite some time, so enjoy his precious little mug!

Favorite Outfit: Apparently, I’m currently having a blazer-skirt-ankle-strap-pumps moment, because this month’s favorite outfit is a two-way tie between this navy striped look (with my favorite blazer ever) and this black and white animal graphic look. Which means, I’m sure there are more of them to come this month! ;)

Be sure to leave your monthly favorite favorites in the comments! I’d love to hear about them!

  • Jennifer Burchill

I love the round brush hair dryers too! So much easier than a separate brush and dryer. :)
I have been loving cozy sweaters from the Gap and Loft, Costco throw blanket and Bath and Body candles in the vanilla pine scent.
Love your blog and your writing style. Thank you for making me smile over and over.

    • Jennifer! Thanks so much for your nice words and for sharing your favorites, because they all sound amazing! I’d like to be wearing cozy sweaters, hiding under a blanket, and burning/smelling that candle! I will have to check out that scent the next time I’m in B&B!

  • I haven’t had a holiday spice flat white, but I’m a huuuuge fan of the holiday spice cold brew, and today I bought Coffee Mate “Spiced Latte” coffee creamer and it tastes the same! I love it! Also brb, going to go copy your wrapping paper choices real quick…

    • Copy away! They are so great…and we just ran out of the buffalo plaid, so foxes for the rest of the family!

And brb for me…going to try to find that coffee creamer for my husband! He would love it…and of course I’ll steal some too! ;) Thanks Mattie!

  • I can’t tell if that Revlon tool looks terrifying or amazing. I cannnnnnnot round brush while I blow dry. Does this really work? Do you dry some first and then use this? I need more info.

Also, omg those boots! I couldn’t decide if I wanted a pair like that or a pair of riding boots, but ended up pulling the trigger on the Sam Edelman Penny boots and I’m obsesssssssed. I can’t wait to see you style yours!

    • Sooooo….I should have mentioned that I wash my hair at night, let it air dry for 1.5-2 hours, and then use it! I use a clip to do sections of my hair at a time (it only takes me three sections on each side, so pretty simple). It really, really works. It’s basically a round brush that does the blow dryer part for you for you! It’s like getting a blowout at home…and you can totally do it!
