We should probably just rename this blog to “Katie Steals All of Olivia’s Looks” but that is not quite as catchy as Style On Target is it? It’s been forever and a day since my last Copycat! post, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting the chance to recreate my favorite Olivia Palermo outfit of all time! I was doing a little closet cleaning recently (this NEVER happens) and found that I had all the pieces to recreate the look. Booyah!

My snow leopard “skirt” is actually a dress, but that’s the great option about dresses. They’re awesome on their own (it took me a while to figure this out, my friend B had to show me the way). Some can be tucked into skirts to be worn as a “top”, and some can have sweaters/shirts over top and can become “skirts”, just like this one.

While my sweater isn’t quite the awesome chunkiness, turtleneck that Olivia is working, I think it works better on my frame, since I am not quite as petite as her. I think I nailed the look (for way less), what about you?

CopyCat!, Vol. 4: Snowed Out

Inspiration from White House Black Market website

Finally back at work today after this polar vortex pretty much shut down the state of Indiana. We (The Fiance, The Puppy, and I) were all pretty much going crazy not being able to leave the house, so it was nice to get back to a normal schedule today!

I haven’t done a CopyCat! post recently, so I figured I would work one in this week, since it is back to business casual at work this week, and I needed a little motivation to be back in non-jeans/pajamas. The inspiration photo is from White House Black Market, and it helped me mix my Target turtleneck with my new-to-me tweed skirt (which was on my 2014 Wishlist, success!). I added in my red tights again, since I’m obsessed with them now and finished the look off with a mixed-metals necklace. Pretty good for a “Monday,” since this is my first day back in the office.

Copycat!: A Pony for Christmas

Outfit Inspiration from: Mindy Kaling on The Mindy Project

DSC02448*Copycat! is a feature where I try to recreate outfits I find on Pinterest (or various other sources of inspiration), utilizing at least one item from Target.

Third time for a Copycat! This inspiration comes from Mindy Kaling on The Mindy Project, which is actually one of the few shows that I regularly watch (though on Hulu). This sweater is so cute, but so little kid-ish (mainly because I plucked it from the girls department of Old Navy), so I was having a hard time figuring out how to wear it to work. Who else, but the hilarious Mindy, could pair together a horse graphic shirt and still look business appropriate, which is exactly what I wanted to do with this sweater this morning! I took the cutesy-ness of this sweater up a notch with the polka dot tights (which might have seen their last day, since I think they have a run in them…sad face), and have already gotten tons of compliments from people at work. Boom…real life compliments are day makers!

How would you rock this sweater in real life? Old Navy’s Instagram also featured this sweater on their feed today. I’m such a trendsetter, hah!

ps. I’m already sick of winter. And snow. And wearing tights. Get ready for a long winter season of me complaining about the cold and trying to make blankets fashionable. Just what you wanted to hear right?

  • On Target item: Mossimo Skirt (purchased in October 2013, but appears to be sold out; similar style in a cool print)
  • Sweater: Old Navy (exact)
  • Statement Necklace (H&M, old)
  • Tights: Merona, Target (here)
  • Shoes: Old Navy (here)

Copycat!, Vol. 2

Outfit Inspiration from: Ann Taylor Loft online look book

*Copycat! is a feature where I try to recreate outfits I find on Pinterest (or various other sources of inspiration), utilizing at least one item from Target.

This is my second round of Copycat!, and I am loving actually using my millions of pins! This inspiration came from Ann Taylor Loft, whose clothes I love and enjoy wearing. This skirt was a dream find when I got it. In my size. 50% off? I’ll take two (I actually did…watch out for the navy one to make an appearance someday!).

I think it worked well. I was worried about wearing a white tee, so I switched it to gray. It seemed a little flight attendent style, so I tied the scarf in a knot at the bottom and added a brooch for some sparkle. I do love her boots more than mine. I’ve not been impressed with my tall boots lately and might have to look into some nicer upgrades!

What do you think of my second Copycat!? Did I nail it or what?!

  • On Target item: Merona Oxford Blazer (navy – recent)
  • Tee: Merona, Target (same style)
  • Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft (got in October 2013)
  • Scarf: gift from future sister-in-law!
  • Brooch: probably stolen from my mom
  • Boots: Macys, old

Copycat!, Vol. 1

Outfit Inspiration from: The House of Shoes

I love Pinterest and have an unhealthy addiction to it. I find myself pinning and viewing pins for hours. Hours, guys. I find myself pinning a bunch of outfits combinations that I love, but I have a board of 289 pins currently! I need to start making this work for me. So, yet, another new feature for the blog: Copycat! I will try to recreate these stunning outfits using my closet, and each one will, per usual, utilize at least one item from Target. I’ll try to have one of these per week.

So check out my first attempt above for work today (jeans all week thanks to the holiday!). I changed the colors from black and white to blue and white to work with the items that I actually have. I think it turned out pretty well, though I am coveting her boots still!

Do you have a fashion Pinterest board, and if so, have you ever tried to replicate the outfits?

p.s. I really have to wear different shoes tomorrow. This is like 4 days in a row!

  • On Target item: Merona Sweatshirt (from Spring 2013)
  • Shirt: Cherokee, Target (boys dept., old)
  • Jeans: Denizen, Target Jeans, (got mine in August, in stores)
  • Necklace: thrifted
  • Shoes: Old Navy (here)
