Save or Splurge?, Vol. 4: All Blue Striped Skirt

Save or Splurge? is a post where I’ll show you an item from Target and its higher end version that probably inspired it.

There are very few things that I love more than the color blue and stripes. These skirts combine both of those loves into two awesome skirts. Stripe skirts were huge last spring/summer, and the uber classic pattern isn’t going anywhere, it is just getting enhanced with new color combinations. Both these skirts pair a navy shade of blue with a royal blue for a unique, but still classic combination. The left skirt is from designer brand Chinti and Parker and sells for $145 (here). Per usual, on the right is the Target version, which is a beyond affordable $23 (here).

You can see how I have worn the Target version here, and I can’t wait to wear it many more ways. It was probably my most favorite purchase in January, and I have to fight myself to not wear it every day. Would you rock an all blue striped skirt?

Save or Splurge?, Vol. 3: Field Jacket

Save or Splurge? is a post where I’ll show you an item from Target and its higher end version that probably inspired it.

Way less glam on this Save or Splurge post than our first two posts (pave bracelet- here, sequin skirt – here). Field jackets were big last spring and fall, and I have a feeling that they are going to be wore all over this spring too. The color of these jackets is a perfect neutral without being so black or tan boring. And on first look, these jackets are identical twins. On the right is the Target version (retails for $40) and on the left is the original field jacket from J. Crew (sells for $148).

I have a feeling I am going to be buying the Target version real soon. I’m trying to make an effort to stay away from black jackets and recently got a navy quilted jacket from Old Navy. This field jacket would be perfect for a light layer when I visit my younger brother in San Francisco or even on a early summer day here in Indiana.

Would you rock a field jacket? If not, what kind of jacket are you looking for this coming spring?

Save or Splurge?, Vol. 2: Sequin Skirt

Save or Splurge? is a post where I’ll show you an item from Target and its higher end version that probably inspired it.

Our first Save or Splurge was the pave bracelet (here), so obviously more sparkles are needed in the second installment. On the right is the Target version (retails for $30) and on the left is a piece from Neiman Marcus’s website from a brand, Lafayette 1480 New York (normally $395, but on sale for $237 currently).

I first saw the Target skirt in stores on New Years Eve, and if I hadn’t already planned out my outfit for the night, I might have snatched it up. Timing, guys, all about the timing. I think that they are both beautiful pieces, but most of us (me included) can probably justify a $30 skirt and wear it a few times than one that is 12.5 times that price.

Has anyone purchased this Target sequined beauty? Would you rock this, and if so, where?
