I wore this in honor of my beloved Indianapolis Colts (NFL team, in case you are completely lost), and their huge comeback win on Saturday. I had the privilege of attending the game with my dad, and it was absolutely amazing, exciting, almost heartbreaking, and thrilling! No words to describe my love of the game and this team.
I had planned on wearing this to work today to show my team colors (blue and white), but guess what? We have an official snow day thanks to this crazy winter weather we are having in the Midwest. If you haven’t heard about in the news, check it out…this is big! I think the temperature outside is like -12 (and even colder with every gust of wind), so The Fiance and I braved the bitter cold to bring you these photos. Hence, the cold red face and the crazy wind. We’re hunkering down inside for the day and might watch a movie and drink lots of hot chocolate. Pretty good for a Monday, I think!
ps. My mom was right again (see here when I rocked red tights because she said I could). This houndstooth jacket is not old ladyish (like I thought here), and I love it. Soooo, Mom: 2, Katie: 0.

I’m on a mission this year, guys!
To stick to a budget. To make responsible purchases. To buy some classic/long-lasting items. To make smart decisions. And to build a quality wardrobe.
Above, you can find some key items that I am looking to buy this year. Yes, I will likely end up not buying some of these and instead, purchasing some ridiculous cute animal sweaters. But I’m only 26, so that’s okay? Right? I’ll be updating this list as I find the items (whether or not they are from Target), and you’ll be able to find an updated page on the website dedicated to my 2014 Wishlist. Maybe I’ll do an end-of-the-year post on it in December 2014? That seems forever away, even though 2013 flew by!
Without further adieu, here are the 27 items on my 2014 Wishlist…tell me what’s on yours in the comments!

Color blocking is probably one of my favorite trends in the last three years. It is a seamless and easy way to bring color and interest to your outfit without deciding what crazy patterns to pair together. It literally does all the work for you in one piece. So easy.
Which color combination is your favorite in colorblocking? Let me know in the comments! I’m partial to camel/black, royal blue/navy, and of course, red/blue.
Check out the links below and get some color blocking going in your wardrobe. I think I am going to nab that camel/black skirt (super cute) soon, and some day that orange combo cardigan will be mine!

Hooray! I made it to the weekend. Do you ever just have those weeks that make you feel like you won’t make it until Friday at quitting time? That was this week for me, which is the reason for this comfy combination of “the warmest cardigan I own” and jeans and a tee. I blame all the holiday time off (which I wouldn’t trade for the world, by the way). Here’s to next week and getting back on my normal schedule at work (and therefore life).
The trick to this necklace, which is actually shorter in real life? I fold a cheap chain necklace in half, looped it through the connectors, and presto, extra long necklace! Maybe I’ll do a tutorial on that this weekend?
This weekend’s plans besides potential necklace tutorial: chicken pitas, tons of NFL football playoff games (go Colts), Sunday brunch with The Fiance (a new tradition that I love), coffee, puppy snuggles, and seeing my dad.
What are you up to this weekend?

*A feature that I am going to run on Fridays (along with a daily outfit post) is called “Five for Friday.” I’ll be featuring five items from Target’s website that I am lusting after and feel could work wonders, if I had them in my daily wardrobe.
This week’s Five for Friday is going to feature wallets. All this talk about budgets and money makes me want to cling to my own wallet. I feel like no one ever really cares much about their wallets…the purse that holds the wallet gets all the love. So today, I am showing the wallets some love. Here are five wallets that could really put the spotlight on your look!
- Xhilaration Envelope Wallet (this is $13 and looks way high end!)
- Merona Stripe Wallet (all stripes, all the time)
- Zip Wallet with Strap (classy with a nautical vibe)
- Yellow Bow Wallet (I mean, c’mon, so cute)
- Merona Printed Wallet (almost dalmatian-like…love it)
