Target Haul, Vol. 8

*Another feature that I am going to start on the blog is Target Hauls. Basically, I love to read when other people go and buy stuff, so I thought some of you might be interested to see the latest and greatest finds that I have gotten from Target.

My Christmas presents this year were beyond awesome, and it is pretty clear to me that I am both loved and spoiled. I am thankful for a great fiance and parents who are too good to me (both in presents and life in general). Thank you to all three of them for being so wonderful!

My parents got a Christmas list from me in like late October with my picks on it…mainly because I over-plan everything and wanted to get their lists in order to complete my Christmas shopping early. These red kitten heels and dark green blazer – I know what you are thinking…like I need another one…the answer is yes – were on that list. They are great pieces to add to my closet, and I can’t wait to rock them.

My mom also added these scarves in my stocking. I wouldn’t have picked them out for myself, which makes these even better. I love scarves in general and these are some awesome patterns! Sometimes you need someone else to knock you out of your comfort zone (cough stripes and polka dots cough).

Sorry for the blurry photo…these polka dots were beyond difficult to capture.

Funny story. I went with The Fiance to buy all three of these items. I did it so that he could use my Cartwheel app to get some discounts on these items, and so that I could guarantee that I got the right sizes before they sold out! He approved of all of these items, which is nice to have your boyfriend/fiance/husband approve of your style/look.

I have coveted this polka dot blazer since Target’s Fall 2013 Lookbook came out. It is everything you could want in a blazer, and I am so excited to wear it everyday once a week soon.

I also managed to get another sweater and a colorblocked cardigan (love the mix of blues) out of him. He’s too good to me, and nothing beats a warm sweater!

Thanks again for my presents Mom, Dad, and Fiance!

What was your best Christmas present? Did you get anything from Target?

Target Haul, Vol. 7

*Another feature that I am going to start on the blog is Target Hauls. Basically, I love to read when other people go and buy stuff, so I thought some of you might be interested to see the latest and greatest finds that I have gotten from Target.

I’m back and spending like it never was a ban in my life (because there wasn’t, because I’m terrible). So I didn’t quite make it to Christmas without spending (see here), and then it went slightly downhill after that. Oh well. I got some quality items, and I didn’t spend a ton of money, because a lot of them were on sale. I’ll be posting a budget post soon (and will be doing one every month), and spoiler alert: I was under budget for this month (at least so far…still 3 more days left to shop this month/year)! Above are the items that I bought for myself during the last few weeks (both before and after Christmas).

I have seen some many bloggers out rocking a thin black turtleneck, and I decided that I must have my own when they were marked down at my local Target. I think it will be a versatile piece, but I am afraid of looking like I am trapped in the ’80s. So please let me know if you have any black turtleneck styling tips.

I have almost every other color in this awesome Merona Oxford Blazer, so why not add black? I also don’t own a black blazer that I truly love (how hard is it to find one of these?), so this one fit a true closet need.

I bought this sweater because it is thin and beyond comfy. Plus, it has a cool graphic element and is red and blue together, and that, my friends, is my color combination weakness.

This dress (again with the red and blue – I am a walking 4th of July Parade?) had to come home with my a few days before Christmas, because it was $8.50 (from $28 originally). Ridiculous. Plus, I love the subtle mixing of prints. I am thinking about wearing it to my bridal shower at the end of January. So completely necessary?

Striped shirts will always have a home in my closet. All of them. I wanted this one to be loose fitting, and this one fits the bill. Plus, a classic piece for $8? Done.

I have wanted these boots, since they first appeared in Target’s advertisements (like early fall?). They are constantly featured on Target’s Instagram, and I have seen lots of similar ones on other bloggers for much much more $. Plus, my closest friend at work has them and wore them to a lunch, and she looked SO put together. I bought them the Friday before Christmas. I was afraid that they would run out of my size before Christmas, and I was probably right, since there are no 9.5’s left in the Indy area. Good life choice, Katie. Good. Life. Choice.

These were the two items that I bought after Christmas with my mom. I needed a pair of replacement ankle boots, since my ones from Old Navy bit the dust after my holiday party at work (scuffed leather and missing heel piece = classy). These were the perfect replacement, and I love the pop of red in the back (they have beige ones with a pop of blue, so cute).

I asked my mom if I could pull off red tights, and she said yes. So I added these to our shopping cart. Again, I love me some red and am hoping to rock these in an upcoming outfit. My friend, B, wore dark red tights during her engagement photos, and it looked so perfect and fall-ish. I’m hoping I can look 1/2 as good!

So that’s my Target Haul from my own wallet. I have some Christmas items to post later today/tomorrow, so stay tuned to see what my parents and The Fiance gave me for Christmas!

Five for Friday, Vol. 10 – New Year’s Eve Picks

*A feature that I am going to run on Fridays (along with a daily outfit post) is called “Five for Friday.” I’ll be featuring five items from Target’s website that I am lusting after and feel could work wonders, if I had them in my daily wardrobe.

Now that Christmas is loooong gone (just kidding, Christmas, I love you), we can start talking about the next holiday!

New Year’s Eve = sequins. Big time. This is a glitz and glam event, which is always fun to get dressed up for and go out with friends. I got ill too early during last year’s NYE events, so this year I am determined to last the whole night! Dream big, right?!

I am not one of those girls who can rock a full outfit of sequins, so these are the items I am lusting after for this year’s New Year’s Eve. They all feature enough sequins to make a statement, but not enough to overpower you. I also think that all of these items could be worn at all different times of the year, not just New Year’s Eve, which makes for a very sparkling 2014!

Do you know what you are wearing for New Year’s Eve yet? Would you rock any of these items?!

1. Mossimo Sequin Short Sleeve Dress
2. Merona Sequin Blouse – Black/White
3. Xhilaration Sequin Sweatshirt
4. Sequin Crossbody Handbag
5. Merona Cardigan with Sequin Shoulder Detail

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 6 – Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas
*So a feature that I am going to run on Wednesdays (possibly along with a daily outfit post) is called “What I Wish I Wore Wednesday.” I’ll be piecing together an outfit on Polyvore (which I have never used before blogging, but I really like it) with all Target items to show you what I wish I was wearing and just how easy it is too look cute on a budget.

Merry Christmas to all of you that celebrate this fine holiday! I am at my childhood home with my parents and am up early drinking coffee and eating some breakfast, while I wait for my sleepyhead fiance and brother to wake up so that I can give them their presents open my presents. I love being at “home” for this holiday and am excited to spend the day with the ones I love!

This an outfit you could rock if you have somewhere festive and special to be. I might rock this sweater today as well (since I own it – seen here), but I am only probably going to make an appearance at my local movie theater. The red sweater complements the green skirt (they work, since they are opposites on the color wheel) and the neutrals of the shoes and the necklace keep it from being “crazy Christmas” wear (you know exactly what I am talking about).

I wish all my lovely readers a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy some time with your family and friends, and eat a cookie or two!

Put A Bird On It

This shirt is too darn cute. My grandma asked today if it was a cardinal (probably because it was red), but I am pretty sure it is a sparrow of some sort. Either way, it is one of the cutest and softest sweaters I own, and I am so glad that Target made it just for me. Want me to buy something? Put a cute, but cool graphic animal on it. Exhibit 1. Exhibit 2.

This outfit is what I wore for my last full day of work this week (woot woot for 1/2 day tomorrow) and for Christmas on my dad’s side of the family. We ate way too much delicious food, played Settlers of Catan (I promise we’re cool), and told inappropriate jokes. Ahh, the good life. This outfit was the right amount of casual and comfy, while still looking pulled together.

Ps. My baby brother (meaning of course that he is 24 and 6’5″) is in town, and he was kind enough to give The Fiance a break from behind the camera. He took these photos, and I love him for it. Thanks, R!
