As much as I love style, I love comfort and utility of clothing more.

For example, skirts should have pockets. Dresses should have pockets. Purses should have pockets. And coats, jackets, and vests should have endless pockets.

That’s why I love that utility-style or cargo-style vests remain in style. Perfect for slipping your cell phone or a pack of gum or your shopping list into and going hands free, but still managing to look pulled together and stylish.

Because as much as we say pain is beauty…it really should be utility is beauty. Except when it comes to cargo shorts…because those are awful! ;)

Ten Things I’ve Loved This Past Week on The Internet:

  1. Block heels are back! I love this style of heel (see above for proof), since it is so much more stability for walking, and I’m a klutz! So yes, block heels forever, especially this cute pair from Gap that comes in 3 colors!
  2. Blogger love of the week: It should be a crime to look this pretty…so Indianapolis police, lock Sarah up! But seriously, I’ll be copying this outfit soon, because she just looks so effortless!
  3. Officially loving this windowpane/grid print fit and flare dress. Versatility for daaaaaaaays.
  4. I’m officially creeped out, Buzzfeed. Of course I had to take this “Guess Your Age” quiz about Target, and they creepily got my age right on the NOSE! But yes, I only use a basket, and I start in clothes first! Duh! ;)
  5. Dear J.Crew, let this cobalt skirt (and the khaki one) be just as good as they look online!
  6. Obsessing over every single pattern of these scarves. Like how do I choose?
  7. Another rendition of 10 pieces turned into 20 looks to take you from summer to fall! Dear more brands, do posts like this!
  8. I‘m all about the long vest trend, but I just can’t decide whether I can work it or not…but if I could, I would definitely be buying this beautiful tan trench-like one! So pretty!
  9. In addition to my obsession of watching the Olympics, I love reading about how they train and what they eat to stay in such peak form! Bon Appetit did a great round up (here) of a whole bunch of different athletes and their diet plans.
  10. These snow leopard printed flats (in black and white) are puuuuurrrr-fect for fall. Puns for life. #sorrynotsorry

Ten Things I’ve Loved This Past Week on The Internet:

  1. Stop what you’re doing…this is not a drill. J.Crew Factory has a new navy/white polka dot vest…and it’s perfection! Snag it here!
  2. Blogger love of the week: My internet friends are the cutest, and seriously…how gorgeous does Nicole look in this dress? A-MAZ-ING.
  3. Loft’s utility blouses are my favorite work-appropriate blouses. I wear mine all the time when I can’t figure out what to wear. This new print (here) is soooo pretty, and I love the bright red! Find all the other new prints/solids here!
  4. 25 dogs who are just so dumb…that they’re cute. Seriously, #1…what happened to you, buddy?!
  5. Affordable neck scarves in all kinds of prints and color combinations? One of each, please!
  6. Obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover my love for this cardigan. The colors, the print, the wrap style! Looooove.
  7. Dear Girl Scouts, I love you. Thank you for promising to bring me not one, but TWO s’mores cookies next year. You better believe that I’ll be buying 10 20 one or two boxes come 2017!
  8. This  navy/white stripe skirt might be the best thing I’ve seen all week…minus those s’mores cookies.
  9. A personality test based on your favorite type of candy? Okay, this was slightly creepy, because I thought there was NO WAY this could work and then I read the results of both my top candy (Reese’s) and my second favorite (Starbursts). They were both SPOT ON!
  10. These small zip pouches might be both the cutest and chicest thing I’ve seen all week. But the dilemma? Which one to get?!

True Life: I Take Blog Photos in the Weirdest Places

Funny story to go along with this fantastic work outfit. Slightly embarrassing. But definitely funny.

One day, I went to take outfit photos of the look for this here blog. You know, as one does. Okay…as this ONE does.

This cute little green area/fence butts up against a building, so I usually just park my car, jump out, and get to outfit shooting. Welllllll...on this particular day, the owner of the building thought I was throwing away trash in his dumpster that is about 20 feet outside of this shot. And while some people might not looooove this outfit…it is definitely NOT trash! ;)

So I got to explain to him EXACTLY what I was doing. I was embarrassed. He was embarrassed. The fence in the background was second-handily embarrassed. Long pause. Long pause. Long pause. And he just said, “Oh that’s cool. Please continue, and I’ll go back inside.”

Thank you, sir. Happy Monday, indeed.

You know the phrase “fake it til you make it,” right? Pretending to know what you’re doing until you can figure things out. I pretty much thrive on this phrase, and it’s really been my life motto and how I try to navigate life (except for the first and only time I tried to make coffee in the work coffee machine…yikes).

Another good life motto? Fit and flare it. As in, wear a fit-and-flare dress and take on the world.

Let’s just say it is a lot easier to master a fit-and-flare dress than it is to make a cup of work coffee. ;)
