I’m sorry, have we seen a more “Katie-esque” Five for Friday? I think not.

Even though it is winter, it is still important to keep to your normal style profile. Especially when you’re bundling up day after day after day, you want it to be something that you enjoy! So I’ve rounded up five six winter essentials for you: mittens (or gloves), hat, sweater, snow/weather boots, a great coat, and a fun scarf!

Together, you and this fierce five six can tackle the winter weather no matter how many months it may last (here’s looking at you, Indiana)!

Five for Friday, Vol. 164 – And the Other Gold

…and you knew it was coming after last week’s One is Silver post!

I use to not be a huge fan of gold, but then it slowly started sneaking its way into my outfits. The best part of gold is it works with almost every color combination. I think silver has its limits but gold is, well, golden!

Add a little glittery gold to your life with the below picks!

…and the other’s gold (but that post is yet to come…sorry if that song gets stuck in your head, fellow Girl Scouts)!

This winter has already got me a little down (snow, cold, lack of sunlight), but you know what one of the best parts is about winter?

All the sparkle and shine! You have all the icicles, snowflakes, holiday dressing, presents, etc., to keep you merry and bright!

Check out these silver items and keep on sparkling!

Five for Friday, Vol. 162 – 2017 Pantone Color of the Year – Greenery

As 2016 comes to a close (in the next few weeks, I’m not rushing it…Pantone is!), Pantone has announced the 2017 Color of the Year.

It is Greenery! The official press release (here) has described as a “fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”

This is biggish news in the news of style, as this color can be seen on the runways and the red carpet, which has a trickle down effect into retail stores (you all know the cobalt blue scene from The Devil Wears Prada). Past Colors of the Year have included Marsala (2015), Radiant Orchid (2014), Emerald (2013).

Greenery is easily paired with neutrals, brights, deeper jewel shades, metallics and even the enduring presence of Pantone’s Color of the Year 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity. I can see it being a major hit in the spring!

I’m down with this symbolic pick as whole, mainly because I hope it does help (in whatever small way) in providing a renewing. Plus, it isn’t pink like half of last year’s pick, so we all know that I view this as an improvement! ;)

Check out how you can get a jump on 2017’s Color (well, as close as I could get), because it turns out the grass is a bit greener on the 2017 side! ;)

Five for Friday, Vol. 161 – Winter Brights

The winter blues are the worst, am I right? And technically, they’re not even fully here yet.

Short, dark days. Cold temperatures that keep you indoors. Snow and ice all over your car after work. Delightfully tasty holiday drinks from Starbucks.

Okay, maybe not that last one…that one is definitely a winter pro. But for the others, warm drinks and stacks of blankets can only help so much. So my favorite way to combat those winter blues? Bright colored apparel items.

Because nothing says “take that winter” like a colorful, shimmery striped sweater. And nothing says, “I don’t care about these negative temperatures” like a bright and yellow coat (even if you do). So add some bright color to your closet, and we’ll make it through together.

Pass the holiday spine latte, please.
