Excitement galore this weekend! Friday, I got to sit in the Social Security office to get my name changed, stuffed my face with some food truck deliciousness (Indian food plus some pulled pork nachos stolen from the husband), drank some wine and listen to some bluegrass with my favorite double date couple!

Saturday was equally fun as well, since I got to celebrate that very couple (B + J) at their bridal shower (and eat more delicious food…including cake balls). I love a good excuse to get dressed up, so the fact that The Husband and I have three weddings (plus all related wedding events) to attend this year makes me happy! I purchased this dress specifically to wear to an assortment of those nicer events, so I was happy to take it for a spin this weekend (especially since it is B’s favorite color).

Overall with this outfit, I think I hit it out of the park for this lovely shower for B. I kept it dressier with my gold belt, but then took it down a casual note with some summer stripe wedges (obsessed with these and might have to get the solid red ones too) that I purchased for my own rehearsal dinner! It was the perfect outfit for mingling, eating more cake balls than I should, and putting together the ribbon/bow bouquet (I mean my bridesmaid duties are really hard, right?).

ps. I didn’t wear my sports watch that I wear EVERY. SINGLE. DAY, so be sure to check out my awesome watch tan line! Sun: 1. Katie: 0.

It monsooned here in Indiana yesterday, so this photo is from last week (I was planning on using it next week while I was gone for my honeymoon). Just so you don’t get confused about 1.) why I am in jeans, and 2.) why I don’t look like a wet rat.

I love this blazer so much, and the red and navy seems to work with a bunch of other colors. Here are some other ways I have worn it: here and here.

What other colors would you wear with it?

POW!

Fun fact, I used to take Taekwondo classes and was a black belt in like sixth grade. I don’t practice anymore, but I can almost do white belt form (the first one you learn) and can still rock kicks like anyone’s businesses. I think most of my good upbringing was a result of my parents and their parenting techniques, but I definitely owe some of my lessons in respect and patience to Taekwondo.

So there’s one thing you didn’t know about me…

What’s something a lot of people wouldn’t know about YOU by just looking at you?

Stripes and A Little Leopard

So last week (here) I showed you how I like to mix some prints (a graphic city print scarf and stripes). This week I’m back at it, in front of the same garage door, using the same tee, just in a different color combo.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I, like Jenna Lyons, believe that leopard is a neutral. It goes with all the colors. It is mellow enough not to fight for too much attention (just like these stripes). And it’s classic, just like stripes, which makes it so easy to mix and match.

Also, brag alert…this whole outfit costs about $50. Maybe. $8 tee (thanks Target!), $20 skirt (major sale at Ann Taylor Loft), $5-8 street scarf (in London or NYC, I’ve had it forever), and $15 pumps (thrifted). Major style for little bucks. That’s my motto. Plus, none of these pieces will ever really go out of style.

ps. Try not to get blinded by my legs.
