Fourth of July 2015

Hope you all had a great Fourth of July weekend full of fireworks, hot dogs, and fun times!

I spent the weekend in this very outfit hanging out with my family, The Husband, and Cooper (our dog) at my parents’ house. I ate waaaaay too much (mostly of my mom’s all-star caprese salad) and talked about Inside Out waaaay too much (so good…go see it right NOW).

What I also did waaaay too much of? Weeding on Sunday. Does anyone hate this task as much as I do? I love being outside, but uggh. It’s practically un-American. So next Fourth of July, I do solemnly swear to not weed or do any yardwork, and instead, I’ll eat flag cake (thanks Ina!).

What is your favorite Fourth of July/summer BBQ treat?

ps. Mad thanks to Jessica, my hairstylist, for giving me these flatiron curls! She’s a rockstar if anyone needs a referral!

Today’s not-so-fun highlights:
  • So after tomorrow…I can’t wear red, white, and blue together, right? WRONG! ;)

Happy weekend, friends! What are you up to?

Stars and Skirts

DSC035471DSC035701DSC035331DSC035461DSC035711DSC035341DSC035581

Safely back from the Pacific Northwest, reunited with my puppy, AND it’s Red, White, and Blue Week here at Style On Target! What more could a gal ask for?

Someone to unpack my suitcase and do my laundry? That would be great!

You know what also is great? Subtle patriotic prints…like this star print perfect shirt from Ann Taylor. I’ve already professed my love for Ann Taylor’s perfect shirts, so it goes without saying that this one is really really REALLY great. Plus, it pairs perfectly with my Loft skirt for a work look.

Stars and skirts forever, y’all!

ps. “Time travel” aka switching three different time zones is a really difficult thing to do. I’m already ready for bed, and it is my first day back in the saddle! ;) I’ll have my Portland and Seattle post next week, so be sure to stay tuned for them!

Sweltering Heat Gingham

Sure that title up there doesn’t make a lot of sense, but you can’t concentrate, let alone be creative, when it is this hot and this muggy in Indiana!

You know what you can do? Wear your new favorite (sleeveless and breezy) gingham dress (or shirt…I love this one here) and go eat ice cream with your loved ones. All the cool kids are doing it…aka me…right now.

Chocolate chip cookie dough, anyone?

ps. I lucked out and got some pretty cool in-laws when I married The Husband, and they’re really good at giving gifts, because they got me this beautiful mint purse from my birthday wishlist post! Thanks again, guys…I love it!

Bloggers Who Brunch

DSC030621DSC030701DSC030671DSC030721DSC030571DSC030741image1 (1)

Let’s take it back (way back) to last Sunday’s Indianapolis style blogger brunch at Rick’s Cafe Boatyard!

It was bound to happen…we had done all the other cliched blogger events: wine tasting, cake and coffee, and guacamole and chips, so we moved our way onto brunch (the champion of all meals) for our most recent gathering.

And let me tell you, these lovely ladies know how to brunch both in terms of dressing for it (an art really ;) – look at how cute we all look together!) and dining during it! We score outside tables on their huge wraparound patio that overlooks the marina, and it was a blast to have waterside seats and enjoy each other’s company! The only downside to the event? One of us discovered that Bloody Marys are not her drink of choice! Sorry Sarah!

I was pumped for the chance to dress “on theme” and wear my new rope belt from Land’s End! Nautical vibes forever, folks!

ps. Special thanks to Jaime and Kacie of Regally Soled for planning the brunch and to my three other counterparts (Sarah of Indy Dressed, Abby of Peck on the Chic, and Sarah of Sarah’s Real Life) for attending and reaping the benefits with me! ;)
