If you can’t join them, then beat them? That’s how that saying goes, right?

I wish I could say that we’ve moved on from winter here in Indiana, but we haven’t, and we haven’t figured out how to skip Mondays here either. Apparently, my bill to remove Mondays from the calendar hasn’t made it to the Senate yet.

But if you can’t join them (them in this sense, being spring and the weekend), beat them with a spring-ish color combination of green/navy/tan and a work outfit that is one step away from being casual Friday ready.

Or do what I normally do, and just change into your pajamas when you get home from work on a cold Monday. ;)

Today’s fun highlights:

  • Happy New Year, you guys!
  • Like I mentioned in yesterday’s post (here if you missed it), 2015 was another amazing year for me! But I’m super excited to see what 2016 has in store for me and this little blog!
  • I hope you all had a fun (and safe) night last night/this morning and dressed in your sparkliest of sparkles! Did you stay up to see the ball drop?
  • We hosted a bunch of friends and my brother for a small New Years Eve party. We did this last year too, and it’s nice to have an excuse to stay in and still have a touch of fancy. I also ate too much cheese and buffalo chicken dip, which is slowly becoming a NYE tradition for me!
  • And really that’s all I have for you today after our late night partying last night…and you know, this fall-like outfit that I somehow managed to wear in December…in Indiana…when it is suppose to be winter, not glorious fall! #notcomplaining
  • Though apparently, I’m paying for it today, because it’s super chilly here today! Time to curl up and hibernate for the weekend!

Weekend sales:

The Skirt That Just Can’t Quit

Some of you, I’m sure, are sick of seeing this skirt on the blog.

But unfortunately, for you, this skirt is like the Little Engine That Could. It goes with everything and anything in my closet. Every time I wash it, it ends up next to something in the laundry basket that I think looks great together. It just won’t quit.

Chugga chugga, chugga chugga, choo choo! ;)

ps. How the heck is it the end of August already?

pps. If you haven’t heard, Target has already started their Labor Day Sale online! Most the accessories, shoes, and clothing (even new arrivals) are 25% off, plus an extra 10% with the code LABORDAY! So there’s nothing stopping you (and me) from getting our shopping on early!

Gingham and Cognac

This dress really is the dress that keeps on giving. It easily transcends going out on my birthday (here) to pushing that paper at work in today’s look.

And actually, that’s all I do at work is push paper. They don’t recommend heels for it, but I was born to break the rules. ;)

Red, White, and Plaid

DSC021751DSC021901DSC021821DSC021871DSC021961

When an awesome shoe company makes kitten heels in a plaid pattern in your favorite color combination, you buy them instantly.

When you’re too excited about said shoes that you wait two months to wear them, you’re slightly crazy.

But these shoes are that good that they had to wait for a day where there was no chance of inclement weather. No chance of mud. No chance of anything happening to them, except shining like the shoe stars that they are.

And just in case you were wondering, straight guys DO notice shoes, because one of the guys on my team told me that these were the best shoes ever….and he’s right.
