Ten Things I’ve Loved This Past Week on The Internet:

  1. This is not a drill…Target has gingham sneakers here! WANT.
  2. Blogger love of the week: Love this classic look from Rachel…and her glasses AND all her color “no-nos”. ;)
  3. This colorblocked tote might be my new favorite bag for spring!
  4. 20 of the most stunning drone photos taken in 2016! Some of these are downright gorgeous!
  5. Old Navy’s spring collection is looking like a direct copy of J.Crew (though WAY more affordable option), especially this outfit, which I want to wear immediately!
  6. This might be the prettiest top out there, thanks to the mix of polka dots and paisley…oh and my favorite color combination ever! It also comes in a scarf here…which might have to find a way to me soon!
  7. 10 books to read before they are turned into movies this year!
  8. These sandals won’t work here currently, but I bet I’ll be wearing them into the ground come spring/summer! They also come in 4 great/versatile color options!
  9. The best things to score on sale in January…you know, in case you have to stock up!
  10.  This is not an over exaggeration….I want EVERYTHING from Boden’s spring catalog (here). Blues, reds, nautical themes, and beautiful prints? SIGN. ME. UP!

Black, Green, and Tan

Today’s highlights:

  • Has this week been the weirdest week for anyone else? I wasn’t actually convinced it was Friday…until I double checked my phone. I’ll take it, especially since this is my normal Friday off!
  • It is beyond FREEZING here in Indianapolis, so I’m spending most of the day curled up drinking coffee, snuggling under blankets, and obsessively playing this game (Stardew Valley for anyone interested) that my brother got me hooked on.
  • In sadder news, my great-grandmother passed away on Monday. We all knew it was coming eventually, as she was 97(!), but that doesn’t make it any less sad. She was a classy, sassy lady, and a huge Indiana sports fan. I’ll be wearing pearls this weekend and watching football (even though our dear Colts aren’t in the playoffs) in honor of her. Be sure to give your loved ones an extra hug today for me!

Today’s fun highlights:

  • I don’t know about you guys, but I’m beyond stuffed today after eating too much and watching a ton of football with my family. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
  • We also ran in our local pre-Thanksgiving charity run (the Drumstick Dash) yesterday morning before heading to my parents, and it was the most perfect weather for a fun run with proceeds going to one of my favorite local organizations! The Husband and I have had a 4-year strong tradition of alternating between this race and volunteering to pack Thanksgiving meals for individuals in need. Perfect way to start the day of thanks!
  • And since it is now the Day After Thanksgiving, I’ll be taking frequent breaks from my schedule of walking (off all those mashed potatoes) and napping to enjoy some online shopping! Is anyone braving the crowds today? Godspeed, and you are seriously braver than me! I’ve been one or two times, and I’m too impatient that I can barely manage the parking lot!

Looking Uniqlo for Fall

Looking Uniqlo for Fall; Style On Target blog

Ahhh Uniqlo…land of the basics, home of the classics.

Which is really what I’m looking for when I’m building a fall wardrobe that can go the distance (insert old-school Disney Hercules song – here). I tend to normally start my outfit-planning with a patterned piece and then slowly build a look with basics.

Because a closet without basics is a closet where you frequently find yourself saying, “I have nothing to wear.”

So today’s post is focusing on those key basics (with some fun classic patterned pieces thrown in there as well). I’ve rounded up 24 of my favorite pieces from Uniqlo, which offers a ton of great basics to keep you from uttering that scary phrase above! ;)

Summer Scarves for the Office

Or alternatively titled, “Russian Grandma Goes to Work.”* ;)

I personally think summer is the WORST season to dress for when it comes to work outfits. Outside of work, you can throw on shorts or a skirt with a t-shirt or a tank top or even easier, a sundress, and be good to go. But for work, you have to maintain some sort of professionalism (read no bare shoulders, no flip flops, no shorts, etc.).

And on top of all of that, I find that’s hard to dress when it is so hot outside, but the air conditioning is on full blast in the office!

So to combat all these issues, I keep it simple. A breezy blouse, a solid color flare skirt, a neutral shade of heeled sandals, and a summer scarf. It’s easy remixable (for example, trade out the black pieces for navy or bring another pop of color in with a bright colored blouse), and when you’re leaving the arctic chill of your office, just take the scarf off!

Hopefully, I’ll have some more summer work outfit combinations for you later this summer, but just know that this is the one I default to the most! Summer scarves for the win!

*No offense to those of you who actually have Russian grandmas. I’m sure they dress lovely and are wonderful people!
