What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 11 – Black and Navy Mixing

Black and Navy
*So a feature that I am going to run on Wednesdays (possibly along with a daily outfit post) is called “What I Wish I Wore Wednesday.” I’ll be piecing together an outfit on Polyvore (which I have never used before blogging, but I really like it) with all Target items to show you what I wish I was wearing and just how easy it is to look cute on a budget.

I’m not afraid to mix neutrals. In fact, I love it. I’m a big believer in neutrals and putting them to work in your wardrobe. I’m not one to go crazy on prints, but I will pair black and brown together, and I have been known to rock navy and black (see here and here). Today’s look is 100% something I would pull together from my closet (in fact, I just might have to, since I have a similar plaid shirt from Old Navy).

Plus, those boots are to die for (yes, I’m still on the lookout for a pair to check off my 2014 Wishlist), and I love that navy bag (looks like a Coach legacy knockoff).

Happy Wednesday friends! Can you believe January is almost over?

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 10 – Graphic Design

Graphic Design

This is a look I imagined I would wear had I turned out to be a graphic designer after my one encounter with graphic design.

I took a graphic design class in college through Indiana University’s School of Journalism, and it was probably one of the most fun classes I took in college. You spent the entire class learning about principles of design, elements, colors, and how to use various design programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.). I love the creative aspect of this class coupled with my business classes, and it was a great outlet for creative expression.

Luckily, I get to design things for this blog and for my wedding (I just finished designing our invites), so I still get to utilize those principles of design and my color wheel. And let’s face it, this look involves stripes, so of course I would rock it.

What do you think of today’s look? Let me know in the comments!

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 9 – Orange Crush

This is probably the most pulled together look I’ve featured on “What I Wish I Wore Wednesday.” It must be a sign that I am in the mood to look pulled together. There is just something about looking your best and being able to put your best work out there.

I’m making it a personal goal to be better this year. A better fiancee. A better daughter. A better friend. A better sister. A better co-worker. Better overall. I’m taking little steps to get there, but then again, what better way to accomplish a task like this. I mean you’ve heard the joke about how to eat an elephant, right? One bite at a time.

ps. This post got deep real fast, so let’s just take a moment to pause and check out the awesome shoes above. I mean, can you believe these are at Target?!

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 8 – Snow Day

Snow Day

We got so much snow here in Indiana in the last few days. So much, that I am officially declaring a snow day. Again, since I just had one Monday and one yesterday (third times a charm? I wish it was this easy…)! But seriously, wouldn’t this be the cutest outfit to walk around in a light snowfall and go grab a coffee or hot chocolate with friends or a loved one?

This outfit features jeans and a sweater (what can I say, I know what works) that are enhanced by pops of yellow that would definitely cheer you up and brighten your spirits on a dreary, snowy day. Plus, you get to look stylish and keep your feet warm and dry in this awesome graphic print boot.

So go on, treat yourself to that hot chocolate. After all, I did proclaim it to be a snow day!

What I Wish I Wore, Vol. 7 – Here’s to 2014!

Plaided Stripes

Cheers to 2014! May you be full of an awesome wedding (April 2014), two awesome vacations, fun blog posts, and 365 days of love and laughter.

I’m in a little bit of recovery mode today from attending two New Year’s parties last night, but I am excited to have another day off from work and another day to hang out with The Fiance. This is what I wish I was wearing, as I run some errands, possibly do some online shopping (new month, new budget) and just chillax (that’s a recognized word now, right). The plaid in this jacket echos this week’s post on being plaid-tastic, and I think it works with the black and white in the striped shirts. The red pants add a pop of color and some interest, while the black boots and necklace keep it grounded.

Happy 2014, friends!
